On the questions that led her to the path —
“When I was younger, I used to always ask — what is my purpose in life? That question ruminated inside me, and I was seeking answers.”
“Whenever I would go into my past, I would always see a figure like Shivji in my imagination. And whenever I saw mythological figures, I would always feel a pull towards them. There was a certain insatiable curiosity in me — toward spirituality, deeper cosmic knowledge, sadhus, and our ancient practices.”
“During childhood role-plays and games, whenever other kids would play ghar-ghar, I never gravitated toward playing the part of a householder — a mother, or someone taking care of a family. I never wanted to play at having a family, children, or household chores. Instead, I would offer to play the part of a teacher, a doctor, a career woman. I preferred to serve people. This naturally, eventually, led me to a medical career.”
“Pratyaksham hi alpam (प्रत्यक्षं हि अल्पम्) — what is seen is only a fraction. Acharya Charaka’s line was taught to me in first year BAMS, and it stayed at the back of my mind for years. If Pratyaksham hi alpam, then I wanted to explore what is unlimited. And that journey began.”
